ABOUT

Drew is an instrumental music teacher, performer and creative of twenty years.

An experienced Instrumental Music Coordinator, Director of Ensembles, Head of Voice and Productions, and one of Melbourne's most popular voice teachers for teens, Drew is also renowned for his enthusiastic teaching style and music programs.

 

His commitment to progressive performing arts education (and access to inclusive arts education) turned to advisory work including professional learning for educators and workplace teams, workshops and presentations at schools, conferences, tafes and universities. Drew specialises in community engagement, events, strategic planning and programming.

A freelance creative for schools, Drew has been appointed as Producer, Creative Director or Musical / Orchestral / Vocal Director for over fifty musical productions.

His interest in Arts and Sports enrichment programs lead to working with some of the most exciting enhancement streams in Australia and the USA.

Drew is an active member of the international Arts Schools Network and a member of the ANATS (Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing) committee.

INDUSTRY & COMMUNITY

In the Arts, Drew's original musical REBEL received rave reviews and was nominated for three Greenroom Awards (Best Original Songs), (Outstanding Australian Writing - Musical Theatre), (Outstanding Ensemble).

A singer and musician, Drew has been a corporate and gig entertainer nationally and abroad, still regularly performing concert events in Melbourne / Naarm.

An active supporter of community arts projects, Drew has been involved with organisations and festivals such as Midsumma, Fringe Festival, Out & Loud, ACL and Mardi Gras.

His creative work and performances in NFP theatre gained him nominations and awards from Music Theatre Guild of Victoria including Most Outstanding Actor, Most Outstanding Supporting Actor and Musical Director.

In 2019, Drew was invited to be Ambassador for Melbourne Cabaret Festival where he headlined GOD ONLY KNOWS: THE SONGS OF BRIAN WILSON (2018) before returning with ULTIMATE 90s PLAYLIST (2019).

Drew served as Musical Director for the award-winning Melbourne Gay & Lesbian Chorus from 2015 - 2021.

He has arranged, orchestrated and composed music for cruise ships, entertainers, Disney, ABC and children's touring shows. Many of his choral arrangements are available at sheetmusicplus.com
